Please help us remodelling, building and installing the heating system in our headquarters…Education doestn´t change the world, it changes the people who will change the world.
“MADRESELVA” is a self-managed and financed association created by a group of parents who want to answer our kids´ right to be safe, free and educated in a comprehensive way. We area a non-profit group of families and teachers whose main goal is to create a place to educate our children using Waldorf Pedagogy. We want it to be accesible to everyone and hope to see it flourish in the future. It is a project for the world.
We have chosen Waldorf pedagogy because its principles are avaluable guide for us and its methodology respects the natural development of children, making this option education for freedom and life.
Our main objective is creating a school with all the standards the Educational System in Spain needs. The families have remodelled and built an old “manchega” house, typical from our area, to meet all legal requirements. All the financial support to do it has come from the families and friends. It´s been the families, as well, who have worked in the process of building the school.
It is time now to ask for help outside because we need a huge investment to install the heating system.We need your help so that our project doesn´t die here.
This project has been created by families who want a comprehensive education for their children; we also consider the fact that Waldorf pedagogy respects the natural development of children of vital importance. It is a project with a social approach because the fact of changing the little ones´ education generates a positive impact on the people who will later change the world. Those who trust the project are helping in this change. This is the reason why the project is oriented towards families whose children are or will be attending the school as much as towards citizens who support an alternative educational system. Last but not least, it is also oriented towards all the people who could get an emotional reward while being generous for such a good reason.
With this campaign we want to cover the expenses derived from the installation of the heating system. The families have supported both financially and being the main workforce (70%) in the remodelling of the space, but we still need resources to install the heating system, which is essential. Of course all additional help will be invested in finishing the works that still have to be done both on the inside and the outside.
A little bit of history:
8 families create “MADRESELVA” Educative Association in 2013. Workshops, meetings, speechs have been given to meet the increasing demand of information about a different way of educating children in Spain. Antonio Malagón, soul of this Waldorf in Spain, has helped us throughout the years and has trained some of us in the keys of Waldorf pedagogy.
Who are we?
We are very different. Teachers, craftsmen, ingeneers, designers, clercks…and we all help the project in our areas as much as we can. We have learnt to work together and make the best of our resources, using our imagination to build the school of our dreams.
We all share a feeling towards children, we are worried about them and want to change the world in the most respectful way.
How do we work?
We try to save as much money as possible working in a cooperative way though commissions. We are now 25 families and more than 100 partners who work in these commissions, this way we can organize many different activities: ecological workshops to make bread, soap, oil, make-up products… We also work in our vegetable garden, we do craftwork, traditional basket-making, sewing, parents´ school days, etc…
Our facilities:
We opened the new school last September -2015-; a space totally remodelled and rebuilt by the families, with their financial support and physical work. The building, situated in a natural environment, outside the city, has 400m2 divided in three classrooms, a kitchen, bathrooms and a meeting room. We pay a long-term rent for it. Besides, there is a 1.500m2 garden where our children play daily and where we keep our vegetable garden.
As we explained before, our financial support comes from the families and friends. But to do all we have already done the association has taken on a long-term loan with the owners of the building. We covered part of the expenses of the rebuilding with this money but we have to give it back and fo this we are using the monthly fee the families pay. Even after the loan and all the work we have physically done in the construction we are running out of resources to finish the works and install the heating system, which we desperately need. This is why we are asking for help now.
