El lunes 13 de julio llegó el cargamento con los 1.700 kg de lana de merina pura y ecológica y/o sustentable a Guarda, Portugal, donde será lavada. Se trata del procesado inicial antes de producir lana peinada, cardada e hilada para hogares, talleres y tiendas. Será la primera lana de merina certificada de pura raza en España contando con el respaldo de la Asociación Nacional de Criadores de Merino. Los mayores donantes han sido: Familia Cabello Bravo de Siruela, Oviso y Comercial Ovinos de Villanueva de la Serena, José Luis Talavera y ACTYVA, S. Coop. desde Cáceres. Además ha habido otros pequeños donantes como Manuela Rodríguez, la familia Peña González y Juanmi de Artesanía de la Huerta, estos últimos pequeños rebaños de merinas negras, en peligro en España, que han aportado menores cantidades serán utilizados en los talleres y en el lavado artesanal por parte de DehesaLana.
Sólo la lana de animales registrados en el libro genealógico de la correspondiente raza puede ser calificada como lana de dicha raza. En esta operación han participado importantes ganaderos y la mayor comercializadora de lana sin procesar de Europa (Comercial Ovino de la cooperativa Ovinos del Suroeste, OVISO) por el gran interés que muestra el sector en poner a disposición de artesanos, tiendas y hogares pura lana virgen de merina. En este caso, además, hemos contado con ganaderos que están certificados en ecológico o en conversión para así poder seguir avanzando en una mayor sustentabilidad no sólo en la transformación del producto (se usarán detergentes biodegradables) sino también la producción para que los agroecosistemas de hoy pervivan mañana, reto que persiguen DehesaLana y Merineando con esta iniciativa.
Aún podéis participar en la encuesta de necesidades para definir en qué proporciones y de qué modo se procesará la lana: peinada, cardada e hilada y donar en goteo.org/project/laneras (sigue instrucciones en columna derecha).
